Greetings from Lady Emma of Elandonan,
Here is your Fall quarter letter/packet. Packet information will continue to be available on line at http://mol.atlantia.sca.org/ePacket.html. I’m going to be making some changes to both policy and paper work this fall please watch for updates on-line and in the Acorn. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your service and to make you aware of the following information and issues.
I need to address an issue related to our reputation as list officials. I have received complaints of List Officers being distracted and making mistakes in tournaments directly related to their lack of attention. Please be aware that art projects, social interactions, reading, or other actives may distract you from your task. This is unacceptable. I know many of you can multitask, the problem is that some people can’t and they see the people who can and think it’s okay for them to attempt it. We’ve worked very hard to build a good relationship with both marshals and fighters and I’m unwilling to allow that reputation to be damaged by poor performance.
No one should ever feel conscripted to hold an office. If you do not enjoy running the List or you are not happy being a list officer then it’s perfectly acceptable to resign and do something else you enjoy in the SCA. Having said that I’m concerned that we have a number of groups that don’t have local/canton/baronial MOL’s but have several individuals holding MOL At-Large warrants. My hope is that those of you holding At-Large Warrants would consider taking on the responsibility for your local group office.
When I’m trying to get in touch with you I always email or call first. Please remember to update your information with me when you change it. 36 people had bad contact information this quarter. Without accurate information I can’t do my job The job of KMOL comes with inherent reporting responsibilities for that reason I’m instituting the policy that failure to maintain accurate contact information is grounds for the potential suspension of your warrant.
At-Large Warrants will no longer be automatically renewed. If you want to remain warranted you will need to contact me with a list of events at which you have acted as a list officer/assistant or a compelling reason why, if you haven’t acted as a list officer, you should remain warranted. The KMOL will send out an email or letter the month your warrant expires. This will change policy 4.2.1.1
Please note that the Temp cards have CHANGED! The marshallete has added back the authorization for Scout. This is NC on the temp cards.
I am currently in the process of working with my printer to see if we can have Temp cards padded on 3 part carbon-less paper. My hope is that this can be done cost effectively. I have worked very hard to par down the operating cost of the office in the hope that we can afford to provide these pads at a discounted cost. Watch your Acorn for more information as this come to fruition.
I’m currently in the process of re-issuing any Siege Weapon authorization for which I have issued fighter cards. Due to a printer error my cards did not have the SW designation. I had been writing it in on the back. Once I have completed re-issuing new cards the old cards with my hand written SW will no longer be valid. I will have an announcement in my Acorn letter when the re-issuing is complete.
I have new fighter cards. They are white with blue writing and a blue Spike.
I have received a number of reports that either the MOL page was down or that links were unavailable. I am aware of the situation. I am working with my web deputy, Master Roland to figure out why. Unfortunately, the majority of these outages are beyond either Roland’s control or mine. Having said that please don’t wait until the Friday night before the event to attempt to down load information.
| David Ritterskamp | Jonathan Blackbow | Probation until 10/25/03. Marshal Warrants Revoked. |
| Gregg Ervin | Shaitan (Tuchux) | Indefinite probation |
These individuals are specifically cautioned concerning deviations from the rules of the lists. Should you encounter any problems with these individuals, notify the marshal to pull their authorization card and contact the Deputy KMoL for your area as soon as possible. They will be able to advise you on how to document the incident and what to do next.
Again thank you very much for your service in keeping the armies of Atlantia on the fighting field.
Emma
