If you are receiving this letter (instead of a full packet) you are on the list for electronic distribution. In this case, I am sending you a single letter and asking you to download all the enclosures that would normally receive in hardcopy.

Unevent

It was wonderful to see so many of gentles at December's Unevent meeting. A third of our list officers made the meeting or arranged for proxies, and I really appreciated your time. Your efforts to support the Atlantian army really do benefit the realm.

Highlights from the Unevent meeting:

• Temporary cards expire 3 months from date of issue. Please get those dates filled in correctly - about a quarter of temporary authorization cards I see have either the date blank or the date wrong.
• We're averaging one to two late reports a month. They are due in two calendar weeks from the date of the event, and I count with a calendar not on SCA time. Remember, extensions can be arranged - just contact me. Late reports mean fighters without cards which equals an unhappy KMoL.
• Confirmation of authorization. This is almost always used incorrectly. It is for handling inter-kingdom transfers or lost authorizations, and should always be accompanied by a Verification of Authorization ,because the VoA includes the MoL and membership information. Check the Handbook for instructions and examples.
• MoLs do not have to attend or monitor fighter practices. Practices are administered by the marshallate, practice waivers are handled by the MiC of that practice, and we are happy about that. MoLs are required to administer anything published in the Acorn.
• There has been a great deal of confusion concerning minor fighters. MoLs and marshals have requested a class on these issues. Sir Edwyn, Earl Marshal, and I will be looking into this in the coming months. I'll tell you more when we have details.

Last year, we handled 800 fighter cards, wrote 120 reports, and trained 130 MoLs. You all did a lot of work and you did it well. Thanks for everything.

Fighters currently on probation. This was announced in the previous two packets, but I wanted to remind you that there are three fighters currently on probation.

Two fighters from the coastal Carolina area, Leonaidas (David Grigsby) and Elric Kinslayer (Jeff Hollowell) have been placed on one year's probation for fighting with expired membership/authorization cards and for failing to check in with the MoL. This probation will last until August 1, 2001.

Shaitan (Gregg Ervin), from the northern area of Atlantia, remains on indefinite probation, pending further inquiries into his behavior.

These three individuals on probation are specifically cautioned concerning deviations from the rules of the lists. These deviations include, but are not limited to, failure to check in at the lists table, failure to complete armor inspected, using weapons they are not authorized in, discourteous behavior towards list ministers or marshals, fighting after failing to maintain their memberships, or discourteous or unsafe conduct on the field. Any deviations will result in immediate suspension of their authorizations. Should you encounter problems with any of these individuals, notify the marshal to pull their authorization card and contact the Deputy KMoL for your area as soon as possible. They will be able to advise you on how to document the incident and what to do next.
